打開斯里蘭卡周日的報紙，會看到一整版的徵婚欄(Marriage Proposals) ，

雖然自由戀愛已從歐、美傳入這保守國家，但是媒妁之言和徵婚，仍是蘭卡婚姻的主體。

由於老一輩的蘭卡人還保有種姓階級(Caste)概念，簡單的說就是「龍交龍，鳳攀鳳」，

同等階級的互通婚姻，在徵婚啟事通常都會標示出來，藉以尋求相同的階級。

通常徵婚啟事都是由父母或兄弟姐妹代當事人刊登，有些當事人甚至於自己都不知道，

除了標示種姓階級外，還會刊出嫁妝、月俸、教育程度，

同時也會要求應徵者郵寄出示「占星表」，也就是我們所謂的「生辰八字」，

在經過占星師比核之後，屬性相合者才會相約見面，兩、三次約會之後，如果彼此滿意，就可以進行婚嫁。

登報徵婚並不能代表全部蘭卡人的婚姻方式，但蘭卡人相信姻緣天注定，由上天決定自己一生的幸福，也因此離婚率在斯里蘭卡並不高。

南方的驅魔術–人們相信這種巫術可以驅離惡魔、治癒病痛，聽說法力強大。

面對病情較輕的人，巫醫只需念咒、祈福、點燈，然後將病邪轉移到手上的果實，

最後將它一分為二，代表化解災厄。
